Curiosity 02 | Spring's Unspoken Ritual

As the days waver on, daylight increases, temperatures rise, and the grass becomes greener, we find ourselves pondering the changing of seasons, the spring phenomenon, and the ritual of how we receive it.

The Changing of Seasons

Why is it that a season longed for can take us by surprise? Suddenly burst from our winter routines, we feel lost yet, inspired by an undeniable momentum that continues to grow outside our windows. It starts softly. When the clocks change, we are blissfully encapsulated by the arrival of sunlight. Too caught up in the joy of more daylight, we pretend not to notice this shift's effects on our physical and mental state. While we’re preoccupied with getting back on schedule and feeling balanced internally, mother nature is quietly working behind the scenes.

To Rebirth

  • >Have you taken time to pause today?
  • >What recurring themes do you need to let go of?
  • >Have you grown in the last year?
  • >Have you forgiven yourself?
  • >What is no longer serving you?

The Phenomenon

It happens softly, sneaking upon us. The trees start to bud, slowly at first, until it appears the cherry blossoms have bloomed overnight. Soon a slew of golden daffodils appears throughout the neighborhood. Then, without notice, one morning, the sun is brighter, the air has softened, and the birds are singing louder. The noise builds in the background until it’s silent for a brief moment, and spring’s presence is known and welcomed in unison.

As the Earth awakens from its winter slumber and rebirths itself, we feel driven to follow suit. Either instinctual or learned, we feel the urge to renew. Regardless of whether we are aware of this shift, we join in on spring's unspoken ritual to rebirth and awaken. Both flourishing until we bloom.

Perhaps we’re more similar to black bears than we realize. Both hibernating for the winter and awakening from the sounds of spring, we are thrust into a feeling of uneasiness as the world around us metamorphoses. We feel the primitive instinct inside to change with our surroundings.

To Awaken

  • Are you fulfilled? Why or why not?
  • Where do you imagine yourself?
  • What challenges are you currently facing?
  • What do you long for?
  • When do you feel the most alive?

The Ritual

With fresh eyes and a new perspective, we take notice of the differences in the landscape and inside ourselves. When a burst of energy gives us the sudden desire to move faster, we experience the unspoken urge to shed layers, clean our spaces, and evaluate our lives, our careers, values, and the relationships we hold closest.

While this can feel overwhelming and filled with uncertainty, we hope it instead brings you growth. We inspire you to imagine yourself as a new seedling sprouting from the ground, filled with the potential to blossom in the direction(s) of your choosing. If you’ve been feeling stuck or stagnant, you’re awakened to grow again. If change feels uneasy, take solace in the fleeting feeling that everything is temporary. Most of all, realize the power that change holds is yours.

To Grow

  • What are you grateful for?
  • What are your values? Do your actions match?
  • What needs to change in your life?
  • How can you make your life more fulfilling?
  • How can you improve your well-being?
